FAQs

With any business, you may have some questions about our treats. See below for the most commonly asked questions that we get. If you don't see an answer to your question below, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.

How long does it take to receive my order?

Many of our products take several days or more to prepare. No short cuts here! Our cakes, baked goods, and desserts are finished with many different components, using best-in-class ingredients all made from scratch in-house, and some of these take several days to complete. In order for our “from-scratch” philosophy to translate to a viable business and for our products to truly be “praiseworthy”, efficiency is very important. As a result, we need to cater to the type of customer who plans ahead and understands that quality takes time.

In order to provide you with the best and freshest product every time, with as little waste as possible, these are the minimum preparation times for our pre-ordered menu items:

  • Signature and Specialty Pound Cakes: 7 days (not including weekends)

  • Baked Goods: 4 days (not including weekends)

  • Dessert Shooters: 7 days (not including weekends)

  • Monogram Cakes/Platters/Custom Orders: 14 days or more (not including weekends)

When can I pick up my order?

Once you have been notified that your order is ready, you may make arrangements to pick-up your order during our designated pick up windows. We are open for pick-up on Thursdays and Fridays between 9am-12pm or 4pm-7pm. The bakery is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

All customers are asked to call or text in advance to schedule a more specific time within one of the pick up windows, so that someone from the bakery staff is available and awaiting your arrival, and so that the order can be pulled fresh from our refrigerators and handed directly to you for quality control.

Do you make custom cakes?

At Praiseworthy Poundcakery & Pastries our focus is, of course, our signature and specialty pound cakes. We also offer more festive, special occasion cakes, like our monogram cakes. If you are looking for something that you can’t find on our menu, you may be looking for a custom cake. We have many ways that we can customize and “dress up” our pound cakes and even create full sheet cakes, pre-cut sheet cake slices, and cupcakes for parties and large events, but we don’t do everything. Even with custom cakes, we don’t use fondant, create sculptures or sugar flowers, or make shaped/novelty cakes, but we can incorporate theme colors into buttercream and toppings, and add event specific toppers. We also occasionally make smash cakes and round layered cakes for birthday parties and other celebrations. Pricing for custom cakes varies greatly, and is not based on regular cake menu pricing.

Do you ship?

Praiseworthy Poundcakery & Pastries does not ship cakes or pastries. Our baked goods are available for local pick-up only.

Do you deliver?

While most customers choose to pick up their orders, delivery is an option. However, it is only available for residents within a 5 mile radius from the bakery and costs an additional $25.

What if I have allergies?

Some of our recipes are identified as vegan (dairy/egg-free) based on the ingredients used in the item itself, or clearly state if an item contains nuts. However, our bakery in general uses flour, dairy, nuts, eggs, and all kinds of products and ingredients that contain allergens and it’s a small place. If you have any allergies or sensitivities to specific ingredients, please use caution before ordering and feel free to ask us for information that could help you make the best decision for your dietary needs.

How do I care for my cake and desserts once they leave the bakery?

  • Place your cakes and desserts on the floor of your car, not on the seat or in the trunk.

  • Avoid sudden stops, speeding, and sharp turns.

  • Refrigerate items with buttercream frosting, cream cheese glazes and fillings, and any items containing fresh fruit, immediately.

  • Left overs? Slice it, wrap each piece in plastic wrap, and freeze it. When thawing, be sure to completely thaw in the plastic wrap and then remove it to consume.

  • Your cake will taste best at room temperature. That means you'll want to take it out of the refrigerator about 60-90 minutes before you plan to serve and eat it.

  • Cake is good for approximately 5-7 days after pickup if stored properly and/or after thawing.

  • Praiseworthy Pouncakery & Pastries is not responsible for any damages to your desserts after pick-up/delivery and all orders are non-refundable.

Do you require a retainer fee?

Non-refundable retainer fees of 50% of the total cost are only applied to orders over $200.
